What Being a Holistic Lifestyle Coach Means to Me

Just over a week ago I took a class entitled CHEK Holistic Lifestyle Coach Level 2 from the C.H.E.K Institute and my life will be forever changed.

I took this class before, but retook it as a means of being able to better understand myself and my own health as well as to refine my ability to coach others. The instructor, Angie Chek, absolutely blew me out of the water with showing how simple it can be to work with others and how effective you can be just by helping people get clear on what it is they really want.

Now the reason I am writing this is to share what it means to me to be a Holistic Lifestyle Coach. This is something that is very special to my heart as I know all that I have put into it. The knowledge gained and years spent studying nutrition, sleep, psychology, movement and breathing is a given. The real beauty of it all comes together when blending all aspects of health into a lifestyle that fits the individual I am working with.

We all must be our own biggest health advocates. This is simply the way it is since nobody cares more about you, than you. Because of this we must put health into our own hands and unfortunately practicing health is different that practicing medicine. Both are certainly very important, but health and a holistic lifestyle is a long term view on life, while medicine is a quick fix to help save you in an emergency situation.

The term holistic hold a lot of power as it and really ties the term together. In this context it is about bringing a person’s lifestyle completely together and realizing that all factors are important. It is not just what they eat and how they move, but much more. Here are a few things that I really enjoy diving on into:

  • What makes you happy?
  • Nutrition from all aspects: quality, quantity, timing, relationship, etc
  • The movement of working in instead of always working out
  • Having great sleep hygiene
  • Spending time in thought or self-reflection
  • Prioritizing your time around your values
  • Improving digestion
  • A top functioning brain
  • The list could certainly go on, but these happen to be a few that I really enjoy geeking out on

Now just because all of these are involved, does not mean that I address them with each client. They may not be appropriate at the time to bring up or I might even refer them to somebody else who is better at handling those types of situations. Building a well-rounded network of other practitioners is crucial so that I can best help somebody that I am coaching achieve their dreams. What is it in your life that you are still dreaming of achieving???

Have a Great Day!
