Even Laird Hamilton has a Holistic Lifestyle Coach

I thought it would be fun to share this article I just checked out about Laird Hamilton in the LA Times.

It is his 10 Point Plan to Live Forever. Who can argue with a man that has surfed waves taller than most buildings in the world. The part I found most interesting of course was mention of working with the ultimate Holistic Lifestyle Coach and one of my mentors Paul Chek.  This is something that I knew from following Paul Chek’s Blog, but it really is great to see the recognition he gets as a Holistic Lifestyle Coach.

Let’s explore a few of the 10 points that Laird is planning on doing to live forever. One of the ones that really speaks to me right now is:

#2. Take care of everyday priorities

This one is so beautiful because of how he relates that the food you put into your body is so much more important than the car you drive or clothes and watch you wear. And really how could it not be. Food is going to keep you alive and thriving for as long as you can, but the watch is only going to tell you the time and that doesn’t even matter if you aren’t eating good food.

#4. Don’t be a zealot

Just because you believe and feel a certain way does not mean that you cannot have some leeway. You can go to bed 15 minutes later or have a second helping of mashed potatoes, but don’t make these part of your routine and you’ll be okay. There is no need to cause excess stress from being fanatical about something that probably won’t make or break you, but the stress might over time.

#5. Golf-ball your bare feet

Not only is this a great idea to help all the nerve endings in the feet, but it will help you connect better with the earth and energize by being barefoot, your feet will move better and help your balance and can also have dramatic impacts for the calves, knees, hips back and all the way up to the neck based on the amazing fascial connections found throughout the body.

#9. Get role models

It is funny that Laird Hamilton’s role model is an 83 year old that is crazy about having fun, staying active and being healthy. Who doesn’t need more of that in there life? Also, hang out with younger people. This never gets old hearing it and for good reason. Being around youth keeps you young!

#10 Make it fun

Nothing to add, just enjoy it.

My added bonus:

Work with a Holistic Lifestyle Coach

Okay, maybe he didn’t say this directly, but he talks about a few of his coaches that he uses and between Paul Chek and Mark Sisson and having a role model that is all about health certainly fits the bill. Take a look around to see who you have in your life either coaching you in health or leading the way. If they are where you want to be then great, keep it up, but if not reach out to somebody to help you live forever just like Laird.

Have a Great Day!
