Better Brain through Flavonoids

With summer coming to a close that can only mean one thing…

Okay, so it can mean a million and one things, but I am talking about harvest season. It is time for all of you gardeners and for farmers to really be picking their best crops. This is great for brain health according to a new study that found that flavonoids found in a variety of fruits and veggie can have an awesome impact on the brain.

Flavonoids are a group of bioactive compounds (according to this study are extra nutritional constituents that typically occur in small quantities in foods) that have been shown to have an effect on different aspects of brain function. These include:

  • Cerebrovascular Flow (more blood flow to the brain)
  • Synaptic Plasticity (more neurons firing and continuing to do so over time)
  • Improved Learning
  • Increased Memory
  • Bonus: In addition to brain health these flavonoids also help in the protection of cardiovascular disease and cancer

How You Can Get the Most Benefits

Eat a wide variety of local fruits and veggies right now while they are fresh. This way you can get the most flavonoids still present in these foods to get their protective benefits. Make sure to get as many different colors of foods as you can to get an even wider array of flavonoids. Each will have different protective qualities that you will not want to miss out on.

If you are wondering how the health of your brain is, I have the answer. Check out this FREE Brain Health Quiz to find out where you are at and I will send you my new free book “The 4 Morning Secrets to Perfect Brain Health.”
